The goal was to let José tell his story without getting in the way. The video had to feel personal and sincere, and it had to be easy to follow for Spanish-speaking viewers. Every editing and design choice supports his voice instead of competing with it.

Content Strategy and Visual Flow

The video runs about four and a half minutes and is built around one long, honest interview. José grows up in poverty in a community he calls Los Mojaos. The story then moves through the dreams his sponsors encouraged, his path through university, and his career as a doctor. It ends with his life today as a husband and father and a call for viewers to sponsor a child. I cut the interview to follow that arc, so each part of his life leads naturally into the next.

Billboard

To keep a single-subject interview visually engaging, I alternated between a wide frame and a closer side angle. The wide shot shows him seated in the space, and the closer angle brings the viewer into his expressions at the most emotional moments. The backdrop is filled with children’s portraits and a smiling girl in a red embroidered top. It’s a quiet visual reminder of who this story is about, and it’s always in frame.

Subtitles and Lower Third

Because the testimony is in Spanish, readable captions were a core part of the design. I added on-screen Spanish subtitles in a clean, white sans-serif set inside a soft dark box at the top of the frame. The box keeps the text readable over any background, and the top placement keeps it clear of José’s face and hands. The captions are timed to his speech and broken into short lines, so viewers can read at a natural pace without missing his delivery.

Finished Video

The finished video is a simple, human piece. The look is clean and the pacing is steady, and the story is allowed to carry the weight. It ends on the church logo over black, which gives it a quiet close and a clear brand sign-off. It works as a portfolio piece and as a practical tool for sharing the impact of sponsorship with the church community.
